Stolen trailer recovered with TritonTrak’s plant tracking system

A specialist trailer has been recovered using TritonTrak’s plant tracking system after it was stolen from Hampshire-based transport company, W.J. Bennett & Son. The trailer, which was carrying a mini-Hiab Crane worth £20,000, was stolen from the car park of a hotel in Barnsley.

WJ Bennett used their TritonTrak plant tracking system, which was concealed on the trailer, to find its location. The location was in Bentley, Doncaster.

Informed of the address, South Yorkshire Police sent officers but were unable to locate the trailer. The plant tracking system then tracked movements to a location two miles north-east of Bentley. From there the trailer was then moved to behind a residential property in Toll Bar. South Yorkshire Police visited this address, but were again unable to locate the equipment.

Both TritonTrak and W.J. Bennett continued to observe the trailer’s position, and on 21st March the tracking system sent an alert that it was moving again, this time towards Leicester. The trailer was finally recovered between Nottingham and Newark with the help of Nottinghamshire Police.

Abbie Bennett, Director at W.J. Bennett, commented. “We’re delighted to have recovered our trailer. It is a valuable piece of kit in the work we do and having this battery powered technology has proved to be a great investment. The team at TritonTrak were really helpful throughout the whole process.”

TritonTrak provides plant tracking systems, including battery powered tracking for non-powered assets such as trailers, welfare units and bowsers.
